 WHO ME?
BE A GIRL SCOUT VOLUNTEER?
WHY NOT?

Do I have what it takes?

No matter what your interests, age, or amount of time you can offer, Girl Scouts needs your help to provide opportunities for girls to grow strong. We will match your interests with the needs of girls, and work around your busy schedule.

Will my help make a difference?

Girl Scouts exist for girls, but it exists because of volunteers. By giving your time and talent, you can make it possible for girls to build character and skills for success in the real world. Research shows the influence one caring adult has on a child will last a lifetime.

Do I have to wear a uniform?

No, a uniform is not required for membership in Girl Scouts. There is a wide choice of uniform components available if a girl or adult member would like to show her/his pride in this way.

I'm too busy...

In today's fast-paced world many women and men have a job outside the home or have limited free time. Girl Scouts recognizes the need for flexibility and encourages troops to meet when it's convenient for the leaders. How often you meet, how long and where is up to you.

I don't have a daughter...

Many Girl Scout volunteers don't have any children. The woman who founded Girl Scouting, Juliette Low, had no children of her own, but she felt that every girl should have a chance to benefit from what the Girl Scout program had to offer.

I'm not good with crafts and I've never been camping...

The Girl Scout program is diverse and adaptable. Whether your forte is sewing, computers or hiking, there are activities where you can use your talents. In addition to the skills you already possess, Girl Scouts-Zia Council provides  training in a wide variety of areas so that you can learn as you teach the girls.

I work best with adults...

In addition to troop leaders, volunteers are needed to fill the many support positions that help make Girl Scouting possible. A Service Unit Team organizes troops, establishes goals, and ensures that the benefits of the Girl Scout program are guaranteed to every girl.

How much support will I have?

Tons! In the Girl Scouts—you are never alone. We provide all volunteers with training, handbooks, resources and the experience of others, including council staff, to support you in your efforts

Join the Girl Scouts as an adult volunteer. Whether you work directly with the girls, support troop activities by sharing a special skill or experience, or work directly with fellow adults on the Service Unit Team, you can help inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens.
